Question by rpgteen123: Is Bill me later a good thing to use when buying a desktop?
I currently have a Hp Pavilion Dv2000. I was considering to get a desktop that I could transfer all my games to, because I see that my laptop is over heating a lot. Im sure it helps with credit in a way. I just dont want to do anything that might hurt my credit later on. Any advise you can give me?

computer repair nightmare stories? A privacy thing.?

Question by sunny side up: computer repair nightmare stories? A privacy thing.?
I have 2 computers that no longer work. I am thinking of having them repaired through a big-name place like Circuit City or Best Buy but I am a little concerned about just handing over my computers that obviously contain all my info/photos/credit card info stored as cookies, etc. Has anyone had any bad experiences with people violating their privacy or stealing your info when you had your computer repaired? I know I sound paranoid but it only takes one idiot to steal my info and cause a lot of problems. If you have had a great experience having a computer reapired, where did you go? Thanks. ***i cannot clean out my cookies b/c neither computer will even turn on***

There was an incident not too long ago where Best Buy lost a person’s computer with all the private data on it and didn’t tell them that they lost it till 4 months later…who knows who has a copy of the data now.

There is no way to be sure that your private data will not be stolen, the corporation will not inform u even if it is stolen, and there is not much u can do to prove that they were the ones that stole it.

Edit:

Whenever u ship a Dell back for repairs they will make u remove the hard drive and keep it with you to prevent any private data from being stolen. FYI

Is remote working going to be the next big thing?

Question by Claudio F: Is remote working going to be the next big thing?
Is working from home going to be the next big step in the future? I know that working from home makes people more productive because they don’t have to commute and the company saves money too. If you are a computer expert tell what you think about it, and tell me what the most successful jobs from remote will be.

Answer by Darby
I don’t know. It’s been in the works for a long time and for some jobs you just have to be at the worksite and with others you don’t. My next door neighbor worked at home for the last 3 years. It worked fine for her and her employer because she was a “resource” person, where people sent her e-mails or phoned her to get their technical questions answered. With her, there weren’t unusual expenses or security concerns. She went in every Thursday and for giving and receiving training, special meetings, etc. My son hasn’t had an “office” to report to for the last 10 years or so. He works out of his home and services stores. The company provides car, computer, blackberry/cell phone and keeps in touch with home office by conference call and cell phone. Depends on the kind of work that needs to be done and if there are privacy/security concerns., etc.
