Question by : What do I need to know about my computer/motherboard before finding video card compatibility?
Could someone list the required details? I’m no expert with computers, but with simple list of what I need to know I should be able to figure it out. I’ve recently purchased an incompatible video card without doing enough research, so I need to make sure I get it right this time.

You need to know what expansion slot/s your computer has.

What do I need to know about my computer/motherboard before finding video card compatibility?

ie: PCI, PCIe X1, PCIeX16, AGP, etc….

Check your manual or go to your computer maker’s website and check the specs for your eaxact model

Q&A: Help me with finding a laptop?

Question by : Help me with finding a laptop?
I want to buy a laptop. I typically plan on using it for mostly recreational purposes. facebook, youtube, forums, etc. I don’t plan on using it for any hardcore gaming (nothing like WOW or anything like that) but I do want to play Dawn of War 2. I really don’t care if the graphics are fantastic or not, as long as the game can run smoothly I will be happy. The only other uses I would use it for would be typing and maybe saving music.

Money is tight and I want to spend as little money as possible but at the same time I don’t want to buy crap. I need the laptop to run smooth and decent; doesn’t have to be lightning fast but it cant be slow. I was looking on Walmart and saw this

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Acer-15.6-Aspire-AS5250-0895-Laptop-PC-with-AMD-C-50-Processor-and-Windows-7-Home-Premium/19598987

Do you think this would be a good laptop? If you have had this laptop or currently use it, please give me feedback! I am not going to spend $ 400 for a laptop, this one had a good price of $ 348

Thanks for any help you can give me, and yes I DO need a laptop, not a desktop.

This laptop’s CPU is too weak to run dawn of war effectively.

Increase your budget by 30 more dollars for a dual core CPU. AIM for dual core CPU minimum… and make sure the on board graphics card has 3.0 or higher pixel shader models.
