My computer has become hopeless clogged with malware. I was considering wiping the hard drive and then reinstalling the original software. I have concerns about losing important files + all my saved favorites. Is it better to let a professional do this?

I would suggest getting rid of the malware before saving your important files. You might just transfer malware over to your fresh install. How important are your files? How about a new harddrive, with a fresh install, and some really good anti-malware software this time?
