Is a Macbook worth the money seeing as it has only 2GB of memory?
Question by Undecided Mess: Is a Macbook worth the money seeing as it has only 2GB of memory?
I’ve been hearing really good reviews about Macs, but when I told my dad that it has 2GB of memory, he said that that wasn’t good (but then again he’s not an expert on computers). So I wanna hear from other people what they think about Macs. Are they worth the money?

no
PC does the same things, some better, some worse and that cost less.
Are you kidding? People only buy Mac for the style not for actual work. Why else do you think Mac have Boot Camp.
Laptop these days have 4GB-6GB memory with Core i5 or Core i7.
Mac crash twice a week. (Mac commercials are completely BS)
Mac almost choke on 2GB RAM. I was taken by the hype and bough a Macbook. Now I realize that I was fooled. What am I suppose to do? Stare at the spinning wheel of death all day?
Also, hairline crack form around the hinge. I took it to an Apple Store, but they refuse it because they said it is “caused by abuse”. I rarely take it out of my house are doubt I “abused” it. None of my other non-Apple laptop experience this issue. #1 customer service indeed *sarcasm*.
Apple is the most deceptive company I know. It brainwash people to think that Mac doesn’t crash. Yes, there are plant of people out there that haven’t use Mac but think that it is the “best” thing ever and never crash. In fact, it was Apple that coined the word “Reality distortion field” in 1981.
Also, Windows 7 have higher customer satisfaction than Mac OS X Snow Leopard: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Windows-7-Bests-Mac-OS-X-Snow-Leopard-in-Satisfaction-Measuring-Contest-134018.shtml
Many brands of Windows PC also have better reliability than Apple: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/most-least-reliable-notebooks-laptops,9102.html
This questions is probably going to get a lot of answers as there is a huge group of followers for Macs and Mac haters. Macs are in a group of their own when it comes to computing. Apple controls everything, OS, hardware that goes into the machine, software allowed on it for mainstream use, etc. Macs are GREAT machines and you will not be unhappy you purchased one, but if you take the money you would spend on a Mac you could probably double the specs when purchasing a PC.
Good luck in your decision!
2GB of RAM is more or less the standard.
Some of the Macs come with 4GB.
Overall. they’re good computers… they’re just not worth the price.
The hardware should be better.
For $ 1000 you could get a Windows laptop with a quad core (clocked similarly to the dual cores in the Macs), more RAM, a larger capacity hard drive, and a better video card.
You pay for lesser hardware with a Mac and give up the ability to upgrade (aside from the RAM and a hard drive; even with the non-laptop Macs).
So, why pay more for less…?
I agree Mac skimps on the memory especially for the cost of the machine. However, you’d be surprised how well they work w/ 2 GB of memory. On the other hand, it’s very simple to add memory to a Mac and it’s relatively inexpensive to do so. Crucial makes great memory and their warranty & customer support is absolutely the best.
My MacBook has 4GB of memory.
And I do think the Mac is worth it… it’s faster, easier, have more battery power, and just better in general when you compare it to a Windows, for example. Mine did cost a lot of money, but I do think it was the best computer I’ve ever purchased. (I’ve owned Windows and used computers with the operating systems from Windows 98 to Vista.) Mac’s were top-rated in just about every category for reviewing/testing the best computers.
So yes, I love Mac’s and do think they are worth that good $ 1000 or so, if you’re willing to pay it and find them better than a PC.
