I keep getting a Grub error 21?
Question by : I keep getting a Grub error 21?
Im at a loss. I have tried everything. Searched through many sites and forums. And no matter what I do or change, I get Grub error 21. What is the problem? I have a 750 GB USB hard drive. My laptop can and does boot from a USB drive. I dont have an Internal hard drive because mine broke and im saving money to purchase a new one. Nothing I do works. I tried installing and reinstalling grub. I tried numerous code from various forums. And nothing changes. Just grub error 21. What does it mean? Can someone please explain to me exactly what it means and what is happening internally in which this problem occurs? And can someone please help me fix the problem. Ill provide more information as needed. Program is Ubuntu 9.04. I have the live CD. And since I have no operating system, I dont and cant get supergrub so that is not a solution. Nor do I learn anything from it. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Having a similar problem myself, except grub error 16. I found a list of codes online. Still haven’t solved mine but I haven’t tried everything yet.
21 : Selected disk does not exist
This error is returned if the device part of a device- or full file name refers to a disk or BIOS device that is not present or not recognized by the BIOS in the system.
I gather there is now GRUB2. We probably have GRUB1 which the list refers to.
